Pictures in the trenches (1917)

After blogging about several family members who served during the Great War, I wanted to end for now with some pictures taken from the family archives, which were actually taken in the trenches in the Belgian village of Ramskapelle. This village has been the scene of very severe fighting during WWI.

Who the gentlemen in the pictures are, I still have to find out. I'm not sure they are actually relatives...

Catholic Chaplains Memorial - Arlington National Cemetery

Doing my family tree research I often come across names of people who are somehow connected to relatives. Also their stories are worth telling and the aim of this blog will be to share some of their names, stories, pictures, etc.

In one of my family history blogs, I wrote about Rev. William Contino who lived for a while in the same Boston residence as my great-grand aunt Regina Andreoli. Rev. Contino died in Italy during WWII and is burried there, but his name is mentioned on a monument on Chaplains Hill at Arlington Cemetery.

A transcription of the names of all the chaplains mentioned on this memorial is included below.
